I usually don't use this for personal stuff but...

...when did saying you would do something with someone become an empty promise? Is it right to tell someone you are set on going somewhere with them and then a week later just say, "I can't. I'm going with someone else and there's nothing I can do." I don't think it is right. Honestly, if someone asked me to go somewhere with them but I had plans to go already with someone else, someone who is "first priority" i'd tell them thanks but no thanks. But that isn't you. You can't say that to a friend can you? You can tell me that you're sorry all you want but that doesn't change that you are leaving me alone to do the exact thing I wanted to do with YOU. Thanks a lot.

It's almost time

The day to leave California for 4 months and move to Florida. It's kind of surreal, thinking I'll be in the one place that feels like there's never a down day. I know I'm moving there for work, but I know it will be fun. I'm trying to keep focused on school, only 2 weeks left in this semester. Well, that's it for now, I said I'd post more, but lol no.

So...the obligatory packing post

Kind of torn on what exactly I need to pack and bring to Disney. I am flying in a day before, already know I'm taking my own set of sheets, my computer, clothes, probably my Xbox 360, toothbrush, hair gel, deodorant, ya know the essentials. But what else should I bring? Let me rephrase, what else should I bring that I can pack into a suitcase/carry-on? Leave comments below!

Here's to hoping...

...I SOMEHOW CAN STILL LISTEN TO CELEBRATE YOU INSIDE THE PARKS IN JANUARY-MAY! I know it's a stretch, but I love that song. Ok, so HEY THERE everyone, been a while since I updated this and I feel like now is a good time to do it. I've been busy with school and Disney stuff while also going home every couple of weeks to spend time with family I won't see for 4 months and friends I won't see for 4 months D: But I know this experience will be 100% worth it, I'll grow up some more and learn to be independent. I only have 60-something more days to go until my big move for 4 months to Disney World so I should probably start to update more and become more active. If you are participating in the WDW Spring and Spring Advantage 2011 program here is the link to our facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=272325548167. Thanks everyone and have a magical day!

The wait until I leave for Disney will more than likely cause me more pain than excitement. I can't wait, this is going to be a great experience and I can't believe the amount of amazing people I've met already over the facebook group. If you're reading this and need a wellness roommate for preferably chatham and are moving in on jan 12, let me know :) to everyone still waiting, think purple! Have a magical day!

Guess who's going to Disney World! (hopefully)

So as I left my house yesterday around 4 PM I had the sudden impulse to check my email, and what do you know, my acceptance email! I was accepted for Spring 2011 Merchandise. I'm so excited, it only took 7 days! I feel bad for the other applicants still waiting to hear back. I'm shooting for Jan 12 as my arrival date, or Jan 17, or Jan 19. I hope to the Chatham and hope to meet some awesome people that will hopefully become roommates. I still need to pay my 100 dollar program assessment fee and pick my dates. The wait until Florida starts TODAY and I can't wait. Think purple everyone still waiting and have a magical day!

Day 5

So today marks day 5 of the Disney wait, my friend Vanessa just asked me, "You're still obsessing over it?!" I don't think she understands how badly I've wanted this for YEARS. The wait is killing me but, I find things to tide me over. To my fellow applicants THINK PURPLE and have a magical day.

Day 4

So it is about 9 AM September 26, day 4 of my Disney wait. I'm getting antsy, I would LOVE to hear back soon so I can stop stressing about it. I can't imagine how all those people waiting for 3-4+ weeks feel! Needless to say, I will be obsessively checking my email today. So to all my fellow applicants, THINK PURPLE and have a magical day!

Day 3

So it looks as though people are finding out already if they were accepted or not. My friend Whitney found out in 8 days! And so have some of the other people in the Walt Disney World College Program Spring and Spring Advantage 2011 page on facebook. I'm so happy for you all and I hope I find out that soon! It will greatly help calm the nerves. For anyone still waiting remember, THINK PURPLE. Have a magical day.

Day 2 of the wait

Ok so, it's day 2 of my wait and i'm already getting antsy. Pathetic right? I don't think I've ever wanted something as much as I have wanted this, well not for a LONG time. Let's hope I'm one of those lucky few who get their acceptance super early. To all my fellow applicants still waiting, or if you're pending, THINK PURPLE. Have a magical day!

Phone Interview

So I had my phone interview today, it went fairly well I assume. My recruiter asked me basic questions about work experience, if I like to work in a team or individually, things like that. She was VERY nice and pretty funny too. Now for the wait, I think I made a good impression though, and she sounded impressed. I didn't have to try and smile during my interview because I was naturally excited haha. Overall, it went well, now for the agonizing wait. To all my fellow applicants out there, THINK PURPLE and have a magical day!

Monday, September 20, 2010

Tom Lane's Music Blog

My dad's blog http://tomlanesblog.blogspot.com/ got hacked and someone posted an apology to something that he said that he didn't actually want to apologize about. Does that make sense? Anyways, whoever did it, get a life, seriously.

Fire on Splash Mountain?! A NEW PARADE AT HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS?!

You heard correctly folks, kinda. The fire department was called to the MK today with reports of a burning smell inside the electrical room around Splash Mountain. There was no evacuation.

From insidethemagic.net:

Today Disney announced a new parade is on the way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios focusing on the popular characters from the world of Pixar.
The new parade is still being developed and doesn’t have an official name yet (rumored early names include “Pixar Pals Cavalcade,” “Countdown to Fun”), but according to the Disney Parks Blog it will definitely feature Remy and Emile from “Ratatouille” and Carl and Russell from Disney/Pixar’s “Up.” It will likely be similar to the Pixar Play Parade that has run at the Disney California Adventure theme park in Anaheim.
It has been said that the new parade will eliminate show stops, returning to a traditional constantly-moving parade style.
Block Party Bash (pictured above), which left California Adventure to make way for the Pixar Play Parade, will have its final performance on January 1, 2011. The new parade is scheduled to open January 16
As always feel free to add anything in the comments below. Thanks and have a magical day!

I want to know...

...what is YOUR favorite thing about Disney Parks? Mine is personally how unhappy I can be until I step past the turnstile. After that it's all smiles. Nothing can kill my mood.

So a few quick things...

As some of you may know, I am probably leaving CSU Sacramento at the end of the semester, and transferring to CSU Monterey Bay or Monterey Peninsula College. If the latter happens, I am thinking about doing the WDWCP in Spring 2011. Also, I am changing my major to Business Management.

Next, I NEED A JOB. So if anyone has some suggestions of how to make quick money (preferably by blogging :P) let me know by email (antoning6692@gmail.com).

If you know how to join the Radio Disney Road Crew, I'd also like to know about that.

Thanks for reading, and have a magical day!

My Top 10 Disney Songs

So to continue with my Top 10 lists I have decided to go with Disney Songs, these can be from movies, parks, or any other Disney things.

1. A Whole New World - Aladdin : I put this song at the top of my list for a number of reasons, but mostly because of the way anytime you hear it, you can't help but sing along. It is one of those songs that immediately gets stuck in your head and is an instant classic.

2. Circle of Life/When You Wish Upon A Star - Lion King/Pinnochio : These two tie for second on my list because they are both equally great songs. The Circle of Life brought a different feel to Disney music than we had seen before. The African feel of the song really brought the Lion King to life in the beginning. And When You Wish Upon A Star is probably the Disney anthem. It is the song that plays when the Disney logo comes up in any movie and it is in every commercial. It is one of the best Disney songs ever made.

3. Part Of Your World - The Little Mermaid : Part Of Your World is a great song for numerous reasons. It is telling how Ariel wants to be above the sea and wants to walk with humans. She feels trapped down below and longs for something else. We've all felt that way before and it translates very well.

4. Be Our Guest - Beauty and the Beast : This is Beauty and the Beast's big number. Almost all of the major characters take part in this. The sound and rhythm of the song is infatuating and keeps you wanting more and more.

5. Zip-a-dee-doo-dah - Song of the South : There isn't much to say about this song but, genius. It is one of those songs that, when you listen to it, you know it's Disney.

6. Someday My Prince Will Come - Snow White : Someday My Prince Will Come makes my list because it was the first Disney romantic song. It carries the theme of Snow White too, she is waiting for her perfect man to rescue her.

7. Baby Mine - Dumbo : This is one of the ultimate tear jerker songs of a lifetime in my honest opinion. Mrs. Jumbo is singing this to little Dumbo, and there isn't much to say except it's a truly heartfelt sounding song.

8. You've Got a Friend in Me - Toy Story : The anthem of Toy Story, and basically Pixar. This song also can apply to any friendship. With lines like, "You got troubles? I got em too. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you." it is one of the best songs for a movie ever written.

9. I'll Make a Man Out of You - Mulan : Mulan's uptempo song, sang by Donny Osmond, is a chest pounding epic. The flow and feel of the song is just perfectly blended and Donny Osmond's voice carries the song, surprisingly.

10. I Won't Say (I'm in Love) - Hercules : The gospel feel of the song, and Meg's denial of her love for Hercules make this song one of the few that you can find yourself singing at any point.

As always, if you have any input or want to voice your opinion post a comment below. Thanks, and have a magical day!

My Top 10 Disney Animated Movies

We all know Disney makes some of the greatest animated movies of all time. That is no surprise to anyone. I'm going to share my list of the top 10 Disney Animated Movies with you.

1. The Lion King : The Lion King tops my list for 1 reason, it brought the Disney Studios back into fruition. Before Lion King things were going downhill, this made everyone see again how amazing the power of animation was.

2. Toy Story 1/2/3 : Toy Story the original was an instant classic, the animation style was beyond its time and Pixar really hit the nail on the head with this. They kept building and the stories in each got even deeper and deeper without losing the child appeal. That mixture is something almost no other movie has accomplished, and why the Toy Story series is one of my favorites.

3. Pinnochio/Cinderella : Two classics, two unmistakably amazing films. Cinderella brought upon the age of Princesses to little girls, and Pinnochio brought the playful and the dark together for an amazing viewing experience.

4. Snow White : Disney's first film, it is one of the best. One of it's main characters doesn't even talk, but he doesn't have to. The tale of Snow White is one of the main reasons Disney ever got successful, if not for this movie, we may have no company.

5. Finding Nemo : With a simple concept and excellent execution, Finding Nemo showed us the true power of a father's love for his son. It is a tear jerker at times, a comedy, a serious movie, it has everything. And who can forget Dory trying to talk whale?

6. Wall-E : With a main character who said 2 words and Pixar poking fun at what human's were becoming more and more into the future, Wall-E showed us (again) the power of animation.

7. Beauty and The Beast : One of the last princess movies, Beauty and the Beast showed us that, looks aren't all that matter. It's blend of music, comedy, playfullness, and all around enjoyment make this movie one of the best.

8. Aladdin : How can you not love Aladdin? I mean, they got Robin Williams at his prime to play Genie, and they have that one song, what's it called again? A Whole New World?

9. Mulan : Mulan, the only film to primarily take place in Asia(I assume). It takes you back to the time of the Huns and is just an exciting film to see develop. Eddie Murphy lends his voice to Mushu and Donny Osmond lends is vocals on I'll Make A Man Out of You.

10. The Little Mermaid : The whole movie takes place under the sea. Disney strikes gold again with its perfect blend of story and fun, which is why it makes the list.

As always, feel free to comment below with your thoughts and opinions and have a magical day!

Disney Must-Do's: Disneyland

While in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure you always try to hit the attractions and big rides, right? Contrary to popular belief, there are lots of things to do that AREN'T big rides and attractions. I'll list my favorites for you here.

Disneyland:
-Flag Ceremony: Every day in Disneyland there is a ceremony in front of the Town Hall/Train Station area where they take the American Flag down, it is a beautiful ceremony to watch and I recommend catching it if you are walking towards or around that area.

-The Big Rides: These are obvious, the big rides are (in my opinion) the mountains, Indiana Jones and the classics. When I say the mountains I mean, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad and the Matterhorn. And the classics, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and it's a small world.

-Fantasmic!: Fantasmic! is Disneylands big show. It is a combination of water screens with images projected on them, fire, special effects, and that thing we all love, Disney magic! I recommend catching it because words can not describe how amazing this show is!

-Fireworks and Parade: Walt Disney always believed every day should end in a parade and fireworks, this is what happens every day at Disneyland. The names of the parades and fireworks shows may change but one thing is for sure, they are always crowd pleasers and certainly magical. It is the perfect way to end your day and the perfect way to ensure leaving the park with a smile on your face and the Disney magic in your heart!

California Love

California Disney fans will be sad to hear the Main Street Electrical Light Parade will be staying in Walt Disney World a bit longer, at least until the end of the Summer Nightastic! event.

The Celebrate: A Street Party parade in Disneyland will be removed sometime in 2011 and replaced with Mickey's Soundsational Parade which Disney describes as, "an explosive music festival with thrilling rhythms and bold percussion that will bring to life some of the most beloved melodies from Disney films." This should hit the park in 2011.

Over in Disney California Adventure a new show is being developed to replace High School Musical 3: Senior Year - Right Here! Right Now!, the Disney Auditions Web site has started to list openings for 2 new shows, Disney Channel Rocks! "a contemporary rock concert-style show celebrating the great music of the Disney Channel," and Disney Dance Crew "a hip, contemporary dance show in the mold of 'America’s Best Dance Crew' and 'So You Think You Can Dance'." High School Musical 3: Senior Year - Right Here! Right Now! will have its final performance Sunday October 17.

World of Color has had its fall times announced today, with Disney California Adventure closing earlier in the fall times have changed. Starting Tuesday September 7 there will be one showing at 8:15, this will go Monday through Thursday, and then two performances (9 and 10:15) Friday through Sunday.

The Disneyland Hotel courtyard is getting a makeover! Many people are sad to see the waterfalls in the courtyard leaving, you have about 2 weeks to see them until they are gone.

Disney is also planning on raising ticket prices.

The Redo of Star Tours and the building of the new Alice in Wonderland ride has started. There is also a new food place being constructed in DCA, Burger Invasion. The Little Mermaid attraction at DCA is also being built at the moment.

That's it for now! If you have any other things to add that I didn't put here please feel free to leave it in a comment! Have a magical day!

Summer Nightastic! gets a little brighter for a little longer...

The Main Street Electrical Light Parade has been extended throughout the duration of the Summer Nightastic event at the Magic Kingdom. If you haven't been to the parks yet and you live anywhere close to them, don't miss this! This may not come back to you floridians for a while so catch it while it's still there!

A new show is coming to Hollywood Studios, it will replace the High School Musical 3: Senior Year - Right Here! Right Now! show and will feature songs from High School Musical, Camp Rock, and Star Struck.

There will be new character meet and greets with Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder from the upcoming Disney movie, Tangled. This will begin October 15 and replace Storytime with Belle which will end on September 12. This will take place at the Fairytale Garden in the Magic Kingdom.

Disney's newest resort, The Aulani Resort in Hawaii, is currently still in construction. Disney hosted the first "Hard Hat" tour of the resort, so far it has gotten great reception!

That's it for now, I'll keep you up to date on more news as soon as possible!

Have a magical day!

TRON

So just thought I'd share this thought, I am looking forward to Tron. I wasn't alive for the original, but this new one looks promising. Let's hope it lives up (or surpasses) the first Tron. Here's a link to the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwvuirSEAA

My Florida Vacation (part 2)

ROUND TWO!

The second day of the trip was even hotter than the first, darn you Florida humidity! We hit Hollywood Studios first, I immediately ditched my parents, not because I didn't want to spend time with them, but because I wanted to hit the thrill rides before the lines got way too long. So I headed straight for Tower of Terror, a 30 minute wait wasn't too bad. While in line a little girl behind me was freaking out, thinking ghosts in the hotel were going to eat her. I turned around and told her there was nothing to be scared of, I had ridden it numerous times. I told her she could hold tight my plush baby Mickey Mouse because that's what I used to do when I got scared. She was all smiles playing around with Mickey and looked like she had a great time on the ride. After she came up to me and offered him back to me, I told her that she should keep it, that Mickey was more useful to her now than to me, she hugged my leg and skipped back to her mother. I felt like it was my responsibility to spread a little Disney magic even if I don't work there. I met back up with my parents after the 70 minute Rockin Rollercoaster line. We had lunch and then watched the Beauty and the Beast stage show, I recommend it if you can catch it! We then split up again, them back to the hotel me to Animal Kingdom.

I had ONE goal at AK, to ride Expedition Everest, I succeeded. That ride was the cooler version of Disneyland's Matterhorn. I then got on the bus back to the main transit station on property and rode the monorail to the Polynesian, there I indulged in a Dole Whip before heading to Epcot for a quick ride on Test Track via Single Riders line, I got paired up with a lovely German family and we chatted about Germany. Then I got back on the monorail, after a stop at Club Cool of course, and headed to Magic Kingdom to ride Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, Splash Mountain, and of course, Space Mountain. I then headed to Mickey's Philharmagic, that was a great attraction, I'd highly recommend it! We then all met up, just in time for the Main Street Electrical Light Parade and Summer Nighttastic Fireworks. That ended our trip to Walt Disney World, the next day we hit up Islands of Adventure to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, all I'm going to say about that was, if you can, GO!

We boarded our plane the next morning bright and early and flew back to good ol' California. I miss Florida so much, I can't wait until I can apply for the Walt Disney World College Program!

Thanks for reading, it probably bored you to the point where you won't return, but in the event you do, I will start reporting Disney news when more things start to happen! Until then, have a magical day!

So, I have a question...

Ok I lied, 2 questions. 1. Do you go to California Adventure for anything other than Tower, Soarin, Screamin, and WoC? and 2. Do you think Cars Land will bring more people to the park like Wizarding World did for Islands of Adventure?

Post your thoughts in a comment!

My Florida Vacation (part 1)

So for about 4-5 days mid-July my family and I went to Walt Disney World. I must say, the second time being there and knowing much more about the 4 parks and the property itself made my trip far more enjoyable. We got there on Sunday July 18 and hit Downtown Disney, the mass amount of people made this area very cramped, probably because there were about 10 groups for 20-30 Brazilian tourists there at the same time we were. I picked up a German national team hat at Team Mickey's and then we searched for a place to eat. I swear, there are some EXPENSIVE restaurants in Downtown Disney. We ended up eating at Earl of Sandwich which was very good and not terribly expensive.

The next day we got up bright and early and hit Magic Kingdom for opening. There weren't nearly as many people as I thought there would be, but compared to what we out here in California get for a Disneyland opening, it was pretty packed. We headed straight for Space Mountain which was a nice 15 minute wait, then we kind of wandered the lands and hit rides and attractions just by length of line. My parents aren't ones to stand around in line for a while. Eventually we split up, I headed to Small World while my parents went on Peter Pan's Flight. I was finished first because of the 5 minute wait and headed over to Haunted Mansion. All of you wondering, "Is the Disneyland version really better?" Yes, it is. Not to say the Florida version wasn't neat, but the California one is just, better. It is the original, and nothing beats the original.

After about half a day at MK we headed to Epcot, now the first time I was here I didn't enjoy Epcot at all, I don't think they had put in Kidcot yet so it wasn't the most enjoyable place. This time around I enjoyed it so much, it has become my new favorite park in WDW. We had reservations at Chefs de France(?) which was phenomenal, but it was hot, so we weren't as hungry as we thought. I'd recommend that restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal at a fairly decent price. We then wandered World Showcase, which I realized I missed out on the first time in Epcot, again, I loved Epcot. Then I hit some of the big rides, Test Track, Mission: SPACE, etc. We ended the day with IllumiNATIONs and I loved it. I teared up a bit, it was maybe the best Disney nighttime show I had seen, that being said I haven't seen World of Color yet.
